What is Content Migration?

Content Migration involves movement of content and metadata between disparate repositories, often requiring significant transformation and conversion. The repositories may originate from a single vendor, typical with upgrades and consolidations, but often involve applications from different vendors. Organizations are prompted into this type of activity through internal efforts such as cost reduction and compliance; or external actions such as mergers and acquisitions. Content migration is the unintended price of progress.

The Challenge

Historically, migrations have been handled by service organization using an ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) approach. This approach requires long periods of downtime, is vulnerable to human error and there is often no way to test the migrations.

The PathBuilder Solution

PathBuilder is an integration product that creates a gateway between disparate content repositories. The product is delivered with out-of the-box connectors for each content repository and a set of rules designed to fully automate the migration process. A GUI interface offers administrators the ability to map metadata and schedule incremental migrations for specific time intervals.
